Terms of use

OpenLint is open source. These terms cover using this website, and point to the licenses that cover the specification and the software.

Last updated 29 October 2026.

The software and the specification

The OpenLint tools (openlint/openlint) and the OpenLint ruleset specification (openlint/spec) are licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. That license, not this page, sets out what you may do with them. OpenLint is a fork of Spectral by Stoplight, also Apache-2.0, and keeps its notices.

Contributing

Contributions to OpenLint repositories are made under the license of the repository they go to, as described in its README and contributing guide. Taking part in the project, including office hours, issues and discussions, means following the Code of Conduct.

Names

"OpenLint" names this community project. Please don't use it in a way that suggests the project endorses a product or service it doesn't. "Spectral" and "Stoplight" belong to their owners. We use them only to say where OpenLint came from and to stay compatible.

No warranty

The software, the specification and this site are provided without warranty of any kind, and the contributors aren't liable for damages arising from their use, as the Apache License, Version 2.0 sets out in more detail.

Privacy and contact

See the privacy page. Questions go to [email protected]. Changes to these terms go through a public pull request on openlint/website.
